Electricity restored across the city after two hours

Power has been restored across the city after two hours following the black in Malé City this morning.

The blackout occurred after two main engines of the State Electric Company (STELCO) failed. Although the power was resumed shortly after, it took two hours to restore power across the city.

STELCO said that they are currently in the midst of establishing a backup in Hulhumalé and once the two cities are connected, the blackout problems would subside.
