H1N1 claims new victim

Another person has died after contracting H1N1 influenza.

The fourth fatality from the disease in the country died on Thursday.

Director of Public Relations and Media at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), Ahmed Mausoom told Sun Media that the latest fatality was a 79-year-old brought in to the hospital for treatment for the influenza and was tested positive for H1N1.

Statistics relased by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) today show 1742 people sought treatment for the flu on Thursday and Friday.

A total of 501 people were tested by the end of yesterday out of which 185 have been tested positive for the disease.

The HPA statistics show 31 people hospitalized in treatment and 12 people who were tested positive earlier have been released in the past 48 hours.
