Editor of Mihaaru News summoned by the Police

Maldives Police Service has summoned the Editor of Mihaaru News, Ismail Naseer to gain information regarding an ongoing investigation.

Police Media Official said that the Editor of Mihaaru News was summoned to the Police today at 6:45 p.m. The media official did not reveal as to which case it was in relation to nor did the official say who it was that filed the case.

Sources say that the Mihaaru News Editor was summoned regarding a report on Mihaaru News that translates to “In Prison with No Sentence and Not Knowing” and an article of which the title translates to “Mahloof: Adheeb is in a concrete hole that heats in the sun”.

The sources say that the case was filed with the Police by the Department of Judicial Administration.

A journalist of the media outlet was previously summoned and questioned by the Police regarding a defamation case filed by an independent citizen.
