Three injured in gas cylinder explosion

Three people have been injured after a gas cylinder exploded at a residential home in Malé City.

At the incident at Henveiru Mulhadhooge, 34-year-old woman along with a 12-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy was injured. All three are being treated at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

Director of Public Relations and Media at IGMH, Ahmed Mausoom told Sun Media that all three injured in the gas cylinder explosion are being treated at the Emergency Room.

Mausoom said that none of the victims sustained any “major burns” and their conditions are not critical according to the doctors.

Sources say that the woman sustained burns on her arm in the explosion while one of the children suffered burns on the foot and the other on their fingers.

Owner of the residence, Ahmed Nazim said that the incident took place in the kitchen on the third floor of the house. The cause is believed to be a leak near the regulator of the cylinder according to the owner of the residence.

He said that the fire caused by the explosion was controlled by the people in the house at the time of the incident.

The cylinder in the incident was provided by Villa Gas.
