Owner of the launch, which crashed into a boat while travelling from Gaafu Alifu Kooddo to Villingili, has said that the man who sustained a serious head injury in the collision has been brought to Malé City and his condition is increasing.
Talking to Sun Media the owner said that an expatriate crewman of the launch who sustained a head injury was brought to the capital yesterday morning and treated at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital.
All three on board at the time of the incident, the captain and the two crewmen were injured in the collision at sea. While the captain and one crewman was treated at the Gaafu Alifu Atoll Hospital in Villingili, the other crewman was brought to Malé City.
The collision at sea in Gaafu Alifu atoll took place on Thursday at dusk. Sources say that the cause of the collision was that the navigation lights of the boat was switched off and so the launch captain didn’t see the vessel.
The owner of the launch said that the incident has been filed with the police and a statement has been given and the police are investigating the case further.
