MMA denies rumors of taking in money through helicopters

Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has denied the rumors on social media that say that large amount of money was brought into the MMA in boxes brought in by Saudi helicopters.

A statement issued by the MMA last night said that there is no truth to the rumors and they are “completely false” and raised concerns saying that some political groups are spreading lies against them to create distrust between the people and the financial institute of the country to achieve a political motive.

MMA said that they would take steps against those who are making false allegations against them on social media and on other platforms.

Some people on social media has said that the two helicopters on the Saudi naval ship, which is part of the security detail of the Saudi King, Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, brought a large amount of money which was taken into the MMA.
