Protocols are in place and authorities are liaising with bodies such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and taking all necessary steps to contain the current outbreak of the H1N1 influenza (swine flu), reports Minister of Health.
In an exclusive interview with “Sun” this Tuesday, Minister of Health, Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim said that all necessary measures were being taken to contain the flu outbreak.
“We are liaising with all agencies. We are working with the technical team. We are liaising with professional agencies such as the WHO,” said Minister Nazim.
Minister Nazim advises the general population to follow instructions of medical professionals and avoid public gatherings.
Nazim said that protocol to deal with the flu outbreak was being shared with the atolls in an attempt to proactively tackle the issue.
51 confirmed cases of swine flu have been reported so far.
There has also been one fatality.
