Minister: Vaccine available, administered as instructed by doctors

Authorities have a sufficient stock of vaccine and medicine for the H1N1 virus, and the vaccine is being administered as instructed by medical doctors, reports Ministry of Health.

Minister of Health, Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim reported that it had sufficient stock of vaccine and medicine, and was arranging for additional stocks to be brought in if needed.

“We have the vaccine. It's being administered as instructed by doctors. For example, for pregnant women,” said Minister Nazim.

The current stock of vaccine for the H1N1 virus in Maldives is for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims, and is not utilized for general use.

Number of confirmed cases of H1N1 influenza in the country reported as 51 last Monday night.

The number is expected to be higher now.
