While taxi cabs accept credit cards, fuel stations don't

Complaints have come up since the credit cards and debt cards from the Bank of Maldives (BML) can be used to pay taxi cabs but fuel stations still not does not accept card payments.

Since late last month, taxi cars have installed POS system and started accepting cards accepted by BML and mobile pay services.

A taxi driver told Sun Media that they have been facing difficulties since fuel stations don't accept cards when they go to refuel.

The driver said that it wasn't a problem before when taxis took cash only since they can use the same money to refuel.

Biggest fuel suppliers in the country, both STO and Villa Group do not accept cards for payments.

An official of STO confirmed that they are not accepting cards at their fuel stations and is not sure when it would be available.
