Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has announced its investigation into the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) embezzlement scandal will be completed, and the report released coming April.
The announcement was made by President of ACC, Hassan Luthufy during the press conference held this Thursday after the release of ACC’s annual report for 2016.
“There hasn’t been any report which went unpublished by ACC. I assure that god willing, we will complete the investigation into MMPRC and release it in April,” said Luthufy.
MMPRC scandal uncovered MVR 1.2 billion in embezzled funds.
Attorney General Mohamed Anil said in a previous occasion that the State was waiting for ACC’s investigative report.
He provided assurances the State would do everything possible to reclaim the funds.
Former Vice President and Minister of Tourism, Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Gafoor and former Managing Director of MMPRC, Abdulla Ziyath have been imprisoned over the case.
