Rehendhi Award presented to 4 women

Four women have been presented the prestigious “Rehendhi Award” given annually by State in celebration of women who provide exemplary service to the Maldivian community.

The four women were presented their awards by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom in a function held this Wednesday morning at Dharubaaruge to celebrate International Women’s Day.

The awards went to:

1. Nazeera Ibrahim Manik, Dhiggaamaage, N. Velidhoo; Political and Civil Service

2. Aminath Majeedha, Amaaz, H. Dh. Kulhudhuffushi; Economics

3. Samiya Zakariyya, Zeeshan, K. Maafushi; Social

4. Ifham Hussain, M. Javaahiru Vaadhee, Male’ City; Social

Rehendhi Award was introduced in 2014.

Two women – popular chef Juwariya Wajudhee (Juway) and Aminath Nasheedha won the award in 2014.

Two more women – novelist Fathimath Nahula and farmer Gameera Adam from A. A. Thoddoo won the award in 2015.

Nine women won the Rehendhi Award in 2016. They are:

7. Aminath Athifa, M. Aasthana, Male’ City

8. Faaiza Hussain, Hunsoovilla, M. Mulah

9. Aminath Nazlee Ibrahim, G. Cinaamo, Male’ City
