Home Minister Ahmed Azleen has said that there has always been a group of people interested in the Maldives and even if they don’t come armed for war, a psychological siege on the minds of the people are being attempted.
Speaking at the “Huravee Dhuvas” function last night at the Islamic Center, Minister Azleen said that the people who are trying to enslave the country are not people that loves Maldivian people and they are enemies of the Islamic faith.
He said that the biggest concerns of these would be enslavers is that the Maldives is a 100 percent Muslim country and so their eyes have been locked on the country now as it was back then. And that we should be always aware that they are attempting to influence the minds of the people even if they do not siege with “spears and guns”.
Azleen said that the biggest concern is that there is a group of Maldivians brainwashed by the people who are trying to take away the independence and sovereignty of the country and no one with that thinking should be allowed to do such a thing.
The Home Minister said that the current President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom is very vigilant to such threats and as long as the current government is in power, the country’s independence would be safe from the internal and external threats.
