Maldives Police Service has said that no arrests have been made so far in relation to the acid attack on an elderly man in Raa atoll Dhuvaafaru.
71-year-old Ibrahim Mohamed was attack with acid directed at his face on February 21 2017 while he was going to the mosque for the dawn prayer. He was treated at the Dhuvaafaru Health Center following the attack before being transferred to Malé City and treated at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
Police Media Officail told Sun Media that the attack on an elderly in Dhuvaafaru with suspected chemical is being investigated and there have been no arrests so far.
Although the elderly victim did not sustain any serious injuries, he is still admitted and treated at IGMH.
Media Official of IGMH told Sun Media that Ibrahim Mohamed is now in good condition and his right eye sustained some injuries due to the attack.
The official said that the extent of the damage would be clear after tests following the removal of the bandage.
Last December, a woman was the target of an acid attack in Shaviyani atoll Lhaimagu. Two people were arrested in relation to the attack.
