A committee has been established to organize the State-initiated “Biya Bodu” project designed to strengthen and promote religious unity and patriotism in the country.
During a press conference held regarding the event this Wednesday at President’s Office, Minister of Defense, Adam Shareef Umar said ministries were prepping up for the launch of “Biya Bodu” event on March 1.
Minister Adam Shareef said the theme of the project would be announced on the night of March 1, during the huge celebration to mark the start of the project.
He said the project would be run in collaboration with government ministries and schools.
Members of the committee which will be organizing the project include:
• Chief of Defense Force, Ahmed Shiyam
• Chancellor of Islamic University of Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed
• Abdul Rasheed Hussain
• Abdulla Farooq
• Ibrahim Umar Manik
• Ibrahim Khaleel
• Some Cabinet ministers
Speaking to press, Minister Adam Shareef said the situation of the country was vastly different from before. He said that the uncertainty, fear and turmoil had receded into peace throughout the country.
“With the brave and visionary hard work of President Yameen, the country is now peaceful. And we, the government, are now working on developing the country,” he said.
Minister Adam Shareef said a number of events in the project would be targeted at the youth and schoolchildren; including seminars, drawing competitions, essay writing competitions, and events held using multimedia.
He said that the committee will be liaising with Ministry of Education to organize events targeting schoolchildren, and liaising with Ministry of Islamic Affairs to organize religious events.
Answering a question posed by a reporter, Minister Adam Shareef said the project would not be “politicized”. And that no one will be allowed to participate in any of the events as a representative of a political party.
