Housing Ministry has said that a high-speed bus system would be established to make trips across the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge between Hulhulé and Malé City once it’s complete.
Talking to the press at the press visit to bridge construction site, Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said that the most important function of the bridge is for the citizens to travel between Malé, Hulhumalé and Hulhulé with ease and so a fast transportation system would be established.
Dr. Muizzu said that a bus terminal would be built at the bridge area and the government is thinking to establish a system that would allow passengers going to Hulhulé to check-in at the bus terminal.
As part of the bridge project, a part of Ameenee Magu and Boduthakurufaanu Magu would get a tarmac renovation.
The current phase of the project is installing the main beams of the bridge and is expected to be complete by May.
Housing Ministry says that the bridge would be in use by September 2018.
