Sea swell warning out for north and central atolls

National Disaster Management Center (NDMC) has advised caution in the northern and central atolls due to expected sea swells.

The early alert issued by the NDMC said that there are high waves in the region and wind changes may lead to sea swells.

NDMC advises on using sandbags to prevent water from entering the homes in the event of sea swells flooding the islands. And keep electronics and other appliance above a level the water may reach. The NDMC also advices vessels and other goods in the swelling area to be removed from the area or safely secured.

The Center also requests that they be informed via NDMC emergency number 115 in the event of damages and requiring help due to strong winds.
