Landing craft crashed on Malé atoll reef

A landing craft travelling from the Baa atoll resort development in Hirundhu to Hulhulé has crashed on the Akirifushi reef in Malé atoll.

Angiri Joint Venture Company’s landing craft, Angiri-15, had five locals and three expats on board at the time of the incident. No one was reported injured in the incident.

MNDF said that the report of the crash was reported to the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center last night around 2 a.m. and the Malé Area Coastguard Squadron is assisting the owner of the vessel.

As the MNDF provides assistance to the landing craft crashed on the reef, a similar incident occurred two days ago where a vessel travelling with 20 people crashed on the reef of Maniyafushi.
