Saudi Airline has said that they would start direct flights between Velana International Airport and Jeddah Airport this year.
Speaking at a special function held in Riyadh by the Maldivian Embassy and Sun Siyam Resorts on Monday, the Sales Manager of Saudi Airline, Mamdhooh Abdul-Rahman Al Maloohee said that the airline intend to connect Malé and Jeddah Airport with direct flights in the near future.
He made the remark noting that direct flights between the two countries would make the close relations between the two countries even stronger.
Saudi Airline started direct flights to Riyadh on 30 March 2016 with ticket price at USD 589 without tax.
While flights to Europe is between USD 600 - 800, flights to the Americas are also in the same range.
Close to an year of flights to the Maldives, the Saudi Airline currently has two flights a week between Malé and Riyadh. The airline however remains silent on any information regarding their flights between Malé and Jeddah.
The Maldivian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Abdulla Hameed along with officials from Sun Siyam Resorts and the Saudi Airline attended the function in Riyadh where the announcement was made.
