State to provide financial support to victims of sex crimes

State has published a policy under Sex Crimes Act for a financial allowance to victims of sex crimes to pay for counseling.

The policy was published on Wednesday, February 8, but did not state an exact figure which will be provided as allowance.

It says the allowance will depend on the extent of the abuse, and the current emotional and psychological status of the victim.

Only parents and guardians of the victims are eligible to apply for the allowance at the moment.

Financial assistance for therapy will be provided for a 6-month period.
