A Saudi Arabian tourist who spent his year-end holiday in Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas has made a huge contribution to the Hukuru Mosque in B. Kendhoo.
President of Kendhoo Council, Abdul Gaffar Qasim reported to Eydhafushi Times that the contribution included carpeting, air conditioning systems and a sound system – estimated to cost MVR, 400,000.
Eydhafushi Times reports the tourist vowed to provide the items to the mosque during his visit to Kendhoo in December, 2016.
The items were sent to Kendhoo from Saudi Arabia in January, 2017, and are being stored by Kendhoo Council.
“This is a huge relief to the people of Kendhoo. Work is in progress to install the carpeting, air conditioning systems and sound system by the month of Ramadan,” reported Gaffar to Eydhafushi Times.
Tourists who vacation in resorts in B. Atoll have made similar contributions during their visits to local islands.
