Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has said that the bullet that hit the window of a house in Kaafu atoll Hinmafushi did not come from the MNDF training island of Girifushi.
A press statement issued by MNDF said that the exercises conducted by the MNDF with weapons takes place with the safety of people and property assured.
MNDF assured that no person or property would damage as the result of a Maldivian military exercise and said that all MNDF training facilities contain all the safety and security features to conduct such exercises.
The second bullet to strike a house in Hinmafushi in recent is believed to have struck on the night of 28 January 2017 on a window of the residence Liliy Night, which was being renovated into a guest house.
About 31 months ago, a door of a house in the island was hit by a bullet and the authorities are yet to reveal how the incident took place. While a similar incident has taken place two years later, the Hinmafushi Island Council has said they have been notified that the previous incident was due to the negligence of MNDF.
Today’s press release was the first issue by MNDF due to such an incident.
