Man injured in Vaadhoo after barrel explosion

A man has been injured in Raa Atoll Vaadhoo following an explosion of an empty resin barrel.

President of the Vaadhoo Island Council, Hussain Ali told me Sun Media that a Maldivian man was injured. Sources say it was a local on the island, Abdul Muhsin Ali.

Hussain Ali said that the barrel explosion fractured the man’s right ankle along with injuries to his shin.

The man was quickly taken to the health center following the incident was given first and treatment available, according to the Vaadhoo Island Council President, and was taken to Ungoofaaru Hospital where an X-ray was taken from which the fracture was discovered.

The Island Council President said that the barrel was being used in the welding at the island’s stadium.

He said that before the explosion, the barrel began swelling and an axe was used to break in but the barrel exploded pushing the bench one it about a foot high.
