American guesthouse owner in Hulhumalé arrested

An American guesthouse owner in Hulhumalé has been arrested sometime last night.

Department of Immigration and Emigration said that they conducted an operation last night to find illegal immigrants in the country.

Spokesperson for the Immigration, Hassan Khaleel told Sun Media tonight that ten expatriates were checked from Malé and Hulhumalé in the operation last night and four of them were arrested.

The American arrested in Hulhumaléin John Seyfert. According to sources, he is an investor who started up a guesthouse in Hulhumalé with some locals and is active in the business.

Active on social media, he has stated that a group of people he did business with had stolen his passport. And the theft has been reported to the Police.
