Shifa appointed Deputy Leader of MUO

Education Minister of the shadow cabinet of the Maldives United Opposition (MUO) has been appointed as the Deputy Leader of the coalition.

She was appointed to the position after the Ali Waheed, resigned from the position.

Ali Waheed resigned from the position as the Deputy Leader of MUO in November 2016 and on the same day, he resigned from his position as the Chairperson of MDP.

The current Deputy Mayor and Council Member of Malé City, Shifa is also the President of the MDP women’s movement and a member of the MDP National Council. She has also been an Education Minister in the Presidency of Mohamed Nasheed.

In a statement issued by the MUO today, the coalition praised and expressed the gratitude for the resigned Deputy Leader Ali Waheed.
