Tourist arrivals by end of November up by 4 percent

Ministry of Tourism has recorded a 4.6 percent increase in tourist arrivals in Maldives by end of November.

1,166,605 tourists visited Maldives by end of November in 2016, which is higher than the 1,114,993 tourists who visited Maldives by end of November in 2015.

The most number of tourists visited from Asia Pacific region – who made up 47.2 percent of the total tourist arrivals by end of November.

The second largest number of tourists visited from Europe – who made up 44.1 percent of the total tourist arrivals.

The single country to supply the most number of tourists is China. 308,077 tourists visited Maldives by end of November.

Statistics released by Ministry of Tourism show an increase of 15.9 percent in tourist arrivals in November, 2016 compared to November, 2015.

Ministry has not yet released the statistics for the month of December – which sees the single largest volume of tourist arrivals with Christmas and New Year.
