Foreigner arrested attempting to leave country with over USD 86k

A Bangladeshi man has been arrested by the authorities attempting to travel out of Maldives with more than USD 86,000.

The man was arrested this Monday at 6:25 am based on an intelligence report received by the police.

The 33-year-old Bangladeshi man had over USD 86,000, 2,400 Euros and more than MVR 2,000 with him.

Police refused to divulge any further information regarding the case as it is an ongoing investigation.
