Heavy traffic at the Hulhumale’ Ferry Terminal in Male’ City has led to passengers on a ferry from Hulhumale’ to Male’ having to be disembarked at the Fishermen’s Park.
Passengers on the 7:30 am ferry from Hulhumale’ and Male’ this Sunday disembarked at Fishermen’s Park due to heavy congestion at the ferry terminal.
Manager of Hulhumale’ Ferry Operations of MTCC (Maldives Transport and Contracting Company), Mohamed Nazim reported to “Sun” that the terminal was jam-packed during the morning rush hour and the ferry did not have the space to dock at the terminal.
Hulhumale’ houses thousands of people who work in Male’.
MTCC reports that the company was unable to increase ferries between Male’ and Hulhumale’ to accommodate the huge demand due to the lack of space.
Heavy congestion in the lagoon to accommodate ferries to and from Hulhumale’ and Hulhule’ has led to number of accidents.
