Cargo boat to Madifushi crashes on reef

A cargo boat crashed on a reef near K. Gulhi on Saturday night.

The cargo boat “Black Pearl” was traveling from Male’ to Th. Madifushi with eight people on board when the incident took place.

Information officer for MNDF, Captain Ibrahim Azim reported that none of the eight passengers received any bodily harm.

The incident was reported to Maldives National Defense Force at 10:58 pm.

A team of officers from Male’ Area Coastguard Unit including divers were dispatched to provide assistance to the boat.

The team and the owner of the boat are working on hauling the boat off the reef.
