Ooredoo Maldives have completed the installation of their nation-wide submarine.
The telecom company said that the connection of the cable to the landing zone has been successfully installed as well.
Ooredoo said that the multimillion dollar investment was started as soon as the ISP license was received to provide equal internet connection across the country and bring modern developments to the businesses and the society.
CEO of Ooredoo Maldives, Vikram Singha said that the project would be fully complete by 15 January 2017 and 4G+ would be available across the country.
Speaking at the inauguration of the project last month, he said that Ooredoo believes that the lives of the Maldivian people would be further fulfilled through the ICT technology and broadband services. And while fiber is the backbone of the digital communities across the globe, the company intends to complete the submarine cable installation as soon as possible.
Using the Huaweii Marine Advance 100G technology, Ooredoo said that the cable would enable 4G+ network across the country along with high speed broadband internet.
And so an upgrade of the Ooredoo network in the country is already underway and the 4G+ network has been established in 40 islands this week for the first time.
An official from Ooredoo Maldives told Sun Media that with the installation, the next phase is testing the 1200 kilometer long cable.
