While about 180 foreign teachers have been brought in for the Academic Year 2017, the Education Ministry has said that the number of foreign teachers would be fewer this year.
As the new academic year begins on Sunday, all the teachers have reported to their respective schools today.
State Minister at the Education Ministry, Ahmed Shafeeu told Sun Media today saying that about 180 teachers were brought this year and the amount is fewer than last year.
The Ministry did not reveal the number of foreign teachers that worked in the Maldives last year.
State Minister Shafeeu said that the lower number of foreign teachers would in turn increase the number of local teachers and so there would be no issues of lack of teachers this year.
Lack of teachers and books for the beginning for the academic year is a usual concern of the parents every year.
Shafeeu said that the books needed by the students would also be provided by the beginning of the academic year on Sunday.
