Former Attorney General, Dr. Hassan Saeed has said that he is surprised by the civil suit against him with allegations of violating an agreement of a property purchase in Hulhumalé, and he has not violated any rights of the former Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed.
The case against the former Attorney General by Dr. Jameel has scheduled at the Civil Court for 2 January 2017.
The suit says that the property in Hulhumalé under Dr. Hassan Saeed has affiliation of Dr. Jameel and a portion of it was paid by him and so requests to register is under Dr. Jameel.
A statement issued by Dr. Hassan Saeed in relation to the case said that the property was originally bought under the name of a family member of Dr. Jameel, but it was in the process of being vacated due to an inability to pay the sum and Dr. Jameel requested to collaborate on the payment.
He said that the request was accepted in 2012 and the remaining sum and other payments were made by Raajje Chambers, a company where the both hold shares and Dr. Hassan Saeed himself.
Dr. Saeed said that upo the request from Dr. Jameel, half of the property as a guesthouse to Dr. Jameel and his family is still running the guesthouse there.
And when the HDC authorized to build two more floors, along with the insurance, maintenance, Dr. Jameel was notified through his family, the importance of settling any payments to one another.
In his statement, Dr. Saeed said that he is very surprised that he is beings sued after ignoring all other communications.
He said that he has never wrongfully taken someone’s property and it is not something he would ever do.
