Changes to MLE-CMB flights due to Colombo airport maintenance

Sri Lankan Airlines have issued the changes to the flight schedule between the Maldives and Sri Lanka due to the maintenance at Bandaranaike International Airport from 6 January to 7 April 2017.

During the maintenance period the airport runway would be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Fewer flights:

The number of flights to and from Colombo would be reduced from the usual four flights a day.

From 6 January 2017, the frist flight from Colombo (UL 101) would arrive at 8:55 a.m. and would return (UL116) at 3:25 p.m.

The second flight (UL 103) would arrive at 7:25 p.m. and return (UL 104) at 10:30 p.m.

Flight from London transit in Malé:

London is the only European destination by Sri Lankan Airlines. While there are daily flights from London and Colombo, the return flight to Colombo lands on the time the airport is closed.

And so, the airline has decided to transit the flight in Malé. The flight from London (UL 504) would arrive in Malé at 2:40 p.m. and travel to Colombo (UL 1504) at 4:35 p.m.

To Colombo airport 5 hours ahead:

The closing of the airport during the maintenance is expecting a lot of operational challenges. And so the Sri Lankan Airlines advise all passengers to be at the airport five hours prior to their flight time.

And the Business Class passengers are advised to use the Silk Route facilities

Sri Lankan Airlines said that there would be no changes in the flight schedule between Colombo and Addu City from the maintenance schedule.
