Two persons arrested following Addu gang-fight

The Maldives Police Services has arrested two individuals following yesterday’s gang-fight at S. Hithadhoo.

A Media Official from the Police said that one of the two arrested persons was a 21-year old man, while the other was also a man, of 27 years. The Official also said that the police were looking for other suspects following the incident which occurred yesterday around dusk.

According to the Police Media Official, one of the two arrested men was brought into custody yesterday, not long after sunset, and the second man was arrested around 12:45 midnight.

In the gang-fight which occurred near Bank of Maldives Hithadhoo Branch, a young man was attacked and stabbed with a knife. According to reports, the young man, identified as Hussain Shafeeq, 20 yrs., Hulhahi, Hidhadhoo, was at a cool drink seller with his friends, having a drink.

Shafeeq sustained a minor cut on his left shoulder, and suffered no serious harm in the incident.

The police inform that the attack was committed by a group of 8 people.
