Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has said that a decision has been made to build parking buildings in Malé City to resolve the parking space issue facing the city.
In an interview with Sun Media, the Housing Minister, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said that in the future, about six of such parking complexes would be built in the city which would in turn bring a permanent solution to the problem. He said that the parking buildings would have a large space to park vehicles.
While different works for the project is underway, the Minister said that it would take time to build the buildings.
He said that next year, new parking zones would be made where a parking fee would be collected from the vehicles that use the roads as a garage.
Minister Dr. Muizzu said that while a garage space must be present in the houses being built in Malé City, the space is being used for other purposes and so relevant action would be taken to resolve the matter.
