Civil Court rejects Maumoon’s lawsuit against PPM

Maumoon claimed in his lawsuit that President Yameen was running PPM in violation of the court order which authorized Yameen to take over the party, as well as its constitution.

Maumoon said that though the court order granted Yameen the authority to hold council meetings, it did not provide Yameen with the authority to take over all party affairs.

Civil Court rejected the lawsuit, claiming it had already issued a verdict regarding the case, which has been upheld by both High Court and Supreme Court.

The court said it did not have the authority to look into a case which had already been looked into by Supreme Court.

It said that the lawsuit by Maumoon was approved by Civil Court in violation of the authority provided to Registrar of Civil Court.

All authority of Maumoon as the Leader of PPM has been taken over by Yameen, while Maumoon remains Leader of PPM in name only.
