K. Hura Council reports the condition of the three-year-old who was caught under a three-wheeled truck on the island was in critical condition, pending transport abroad for further treatment.
Three-year-old Mohamed Naal Niyaz from Hura was caught under the three-wheeler in an accident that took place at approximately 5:30 pm, Friday.
He was transported to Male’ for treatment on Friday night.
President of Hura Council, Easa Ahmed spoke to “Sun” this Saturday morning and said that the doctor from Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in Male’ reported an emergency surgery had been performed on Naal to control the internal bleeding resulting from a burst liver.
Easa said the doctor reported no further treatment was available from Maldives due to the seriousness of the injuries.
“Aasandha has been arranged for the boy now. Arrangements are being made transport him on a direct flight to Trivandrum scheduled for 4:30 pm today. But the doctor and nurse from
IGMH who will be accompanying him is not yet final,” said Easa.
IGMH is unable for comment regarding the condition of the boy.
Easa informed “Sun” eyewitnesses reported the Naal had been hanging on to the side of the three-wheeler after getting off of it, when the driver, who was unaware, had driven off.
Naal fell down and got caught under the wheels.
The driver is a Maldivian who has license to operate motorcycles.
The case is under investigation by police.
