Reeko says he submitted fingerprinted form to EC

Deputy Speaker of People’s Majlis, Hulhu-Henveyru MP “Reeko” Moosa Manik has said he handed over his fingerprinted political party membership form to Elections Commission.

Speaking during a SunTV show, MP Reeko said that he submitted the membership form to remain in Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) to EC on December 29, 2015.

Reeko said he submitted the form to EC after MDP refused to accept it.

He added that MDP had not informed EC that he was not a member of the party.

“When I sent the form with the fingerprint to EC, they said I needed to submit it to MDP office. I said I sent it to EC because MDP office refused to accept it,” said Reeko.

Reeko had a falling out with many within MDP after he announced his intention of competing in the MDP primaries for Presidential Election 2018.

His comments come amid talk he hadn’t re-submitted his MDP membership along with his fingerprint – as the law now dictates; and that he was no longer a member of MDP.

A number of top MDP politicians were written out of the party membership registry after failing to re-submit the new fingerprinted membership forms. They include Hinnavaru MP Ibrahim

Mohamed Solih (Ibu) and North Galolhu MP Eva Abdulla.

Meanwhile, Jumhoory Party (JP) member, Kaashidhoo MP Faisal Naseem has also been written out of the party registry.
