5 more lawmakers join Maumoon’s faction

Five more representatives of the People’s Majlis have joined the faction of Leader of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), former Maldivian President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.

They are:

1. North Thinadhoo MP, Saudhulla Hilmy

2. Dhidhdhoo MP, Abdul Latheef Mohamed

3. Eydhafushi MP, Ahmed Saleem (Redwave Saleem)

4. Thimarafushi MP, Mohamed Musthafa

5. Nolhivaram MP, Hussein Areef – a member of Maldives Development Alliance (MDA)

They join:

1. Dhiggaru MP, Ahmed Faris Maumoon

2. Thulhusdhoo MP, Mohamed Waheed Ibrahim (Lawyer Wadde)

3. Baarah MP, Ibrahim Sujau

MP Faris announced in a press conference held this Thursday that the Parliamentary Group made up of the eight lawmakers will be working separately from the other PPM PG, which has sided with President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

Faris said the eight-member PG would make its decisions on national interest, and would provide full cooperation to the government in initiatives that serve the purpose.

The eight-member PG will also be working in cooperation with other political parties in the country.
