An incident involving a man kicking down the door of a consultation room in State hospital – Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) – over slow health care service has surfaced.
The incident, which took place last Tuesday, involve a man who kicked down the door of a consultation room over alleged delay in health care to his pregnant wife, who was having trouble breathing.
A family member reported to “Sun” that the woman was three-months pregnant.
“My sister couldn’t breathe. It was requested multiple times to send her to Emergency [Room]. But they kept saying “go to room number 53”. They wouldn’t do it even when we went there. And then they locked the door. That’s why her husband lost his temper and kicked down the door,” said the family member.
IGMH media official said that the hospital was aware of such an altercation between hospital staff and family of a patient. But denied that the hospital had delayed medial attention to the patient.
“The woman was treated at the Emergency [Room],” said the media official.
IGMH is reportedly running an internal investigation to look into possible negligence of its staff in connection with the incident.
The husband of the patient was arrested and then later released after he provided his statement.
