EC opens application for Local Council Elections

Elections Commission (EC) has officially opened application for candidates who wish to participate in the upcoming Local Council Elections.

EC announced this Wednesday that application will be open from 8 am, coming Thursday, October 27.

The deadline is set at 3 pm, November 15.

EC announced that application forms were available for download from its website. And that information on additional documents that need to be submitted along with the application form would be available from EC headquarters, and island election focal points, atoll election focal points and city election focal points.

Local Council Elections is scheduled for January 14.

EC will start counting the votes at 4:30 pm, January 14. And the official results will be announced on January 23, at 2:30 pm.
