Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has announced that the first of the mechanical parking which will be brought to Male’ to solve the issue of lack of parking space in the city will arrive in Male’ within the first week of November.
The task of installing the mechanical parking systems has been contracted to State Trading Organization (STO).
STO will be installing 10 mechanical car parking systems and 10 mechanical motorbike parking systems in Male’.
Each mechanical car parking system will accommodate 10 cars, and each mechanical motorbike parking system will accommodate 100 motorbikes.
Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu informed the press this Monday that the first of the mechanical parking systems would arrive in Male’ within the first week of November.
He said that the first one – a mechanical car parking system – would be installed near Velaanaa Building.
“Once the system is installed, it will provide some level of relief in the area,” said Muizzu.
Muizzu had previously reported that two mechanical parking system would be brought in every month from November, and that all parking systems would be brought by end of March.
He also said that a regulation on use of the parking systems would be announced soon.
Muizzu said that authorities had determined where the parking systems would be installed, and that information on the areas would be announced at a later date.
