Minister: Government is doing much to empower teachers

Minister of Education, Dr. Aishath Shiham has said that the government was putting a lot of effort into empowering teachers working in the country.

Dr. Shiham made the remark in her address on occasion of Teachers’ Day, this Wednesday.

Shiham said that it was one of the promises of the current administration to empower reaches and raise their esteem. She said that the government had done much to fulfil the promise within the past three years.

She said that through the effort, the government had been able to ensure that permanent teachers working in public schools of the country had a diploma in education, at the very least.

“And with the current degree program for 3,000 teachers, we will be able to ensure that all the teachers, at the very least, have a degree in education by the next five years,” said Shiham.

She sent Teachers’ Day greetings to all teachers.
