A launch traveling from Kaafu atoll Guraidhoo to Hinmafushi has crashed on the Guraidhoo reef.
MNDF said that the report of the launch traveling with 61 people that crashed on the reef around 6:47 p.m. tonight.
They said that the people onboard were transferred to the Coastguard harbor craft vessel with the help of a Safari Yacht’s dinghee.
MNDF said that the launch which had the tag “Sharoo Launch Service” did not have the full safety equipment and while the vessel registry number is not visible, the launch was exceeding the passenger limit.
The people onboard were transferred to Hinmafushi by two MNDF launches and two sea ambulances according to MNDF. And with the help of the Coastguard divers, the launch have been taken off the reef and taken into the Guraidhoo lagoon.
