Cambridge GCE O’ Level exams have begun with more than 7,000 Maldivian students sitting for the exams this year.
The exams will be held from October 1 to November 16.
A total of 7,023 students from 194 public educational centers and 41 private educational centers from across the country are participating in the exams; and Ministry of Education reported that Department of Public Examinations was fully prepared for the exams.
The ministry said that the figure included 12 students from Maldives Education and Cultural Center (MECC) – Sosun Villa – in Sri Lanka who are sitting the SSE exams.
This is the second year MECC is participating in the exams; with the first batch comprising of
6 students who sat for the SSE exams in 2015.
Maldivian students will be first sitting for the Dhivehi Language exam this Saturday, and then Islam exam on Sunday.
They will be sitting for the Travel and Tourism exam along with other international students next Tuesday.
Number of students participating in this year’s exam is slightly lower compared to the 7,066 students who sat for the exams in 2015.
Meanwhile, A’ Level exams will also start for Maldivian students this month; marking the first time the exams will be held for the students during October/November – decision made to reduce the gap between O’ Level exams, and the start of A’ Level education.
The A’ Level exams will be held from October 10 to November 8.
334 students will be sitting for the exams.
