Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) have endorsed the first travel trade show in the Maldives organized by Maldives Getaways.
The endorsement agreement was signed between MMPRC and Maldives Getaways today at a special ceremony at the office of MMPRC. The agreement was signed by the Managing Director of MMPRC, Harish Mohamed and the Business Development Director of Maldives Getaways, Hussain Sunny Umar.
Talking to the press following the signing ceremony, Managing Director of MMPRC, Harish said that MMPRC would be providing full support to promote the event with the endorsement agreement.
“Our hope is because of this event; the Maldivian tourism is further promoted (and) increases the brand visibility of the Maldives.” Harish said.
The Business Development Director of Maldives Getaways, Sunny said that the event is planned for July 2017 to promote and build the properties of the Maldivian resorts and resort segments.
He said that over 100 resorts from the Maldives would be taking part in the event along with 150 foreign travel agents.
Sunny said that main purpose of the event would be to increase the number of tourists visiting the Maldives in the competitive tourism region and so one of the goals is to reach the goal of bringing 2 million tourists to the Maldives by 2020.
Sunny said that the travel trade show in Maldives would be promoted at the event in London.
While the government has been conducting a number of events across the globe through MMPRC to promote Maldivian tourism, Maldives Getaways have been conducting similar events to promote Maldivian resorts and the newly established guesthouse market.
Maldives Getaways said that if the travel trade show is successful next year, it would become the biggest tourism fair in in the Maldives in 40 years.
