MWSC to design Genamafushi sewerage system as a CSR project

Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) is to do designing and survey work on the project to build a sewerage system in G. A. Gemanafushi by Ministry of Environment.

The MOU for the work was signed in a ceremony held at MWSC this Thursday morning by Minister of Environment, Toriq Ibrahim and Managing Director of MWSC, Fazul Rasheed.

Speaking to press after signing the contract, Minister Toriq said that MWSC would be carrying out the work as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility initiative.

He said that companies undertaking some of the many water and sewerage projects initiated by the government as part of their CSR work would help speed up the work and provide relief to the State budget.

“You will, god willing, see many such development projects in many Maldivian islands with the assistance of both government companies as well as private companies during President Abdul Yameen’s administration. This is a basic service. And this administration has the ability to provide this service,” said Toriq.

Meanwhile, MD of MWSC, Fazul said that design work would be completed and handed over to Ministry of Environment within three months.

“MWSC has always worked as servants of the people, to serve the people. We are, therefore, doing all we can to increase our CSR projects,” said Fazul.

He said that CSR projects by the company would increase within the near future.
