Riyaaz resigns as Chairman of MRDC

Mohamed Riyaaz has resigned from his post as Chairman of Maldives Road Development Corporation (MRDC).

Riyaaz’s resignation has been confirmed by President of Privatization Board, Mohamed Nizar, who said that the vacancy will be filled very soon.

“Sun” has been informed that the government had asked for Riyaaz’s resignation in face of corruption issues from within MRDC.

Meanwhile, former Managing Director of MRDC, Ibrahim Nazeem was removed from his position and transferred to Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure as a State Minister.

Corruption allegations against Nazeem are currently under analysis by Prosecutor General’s Office.
