Ex-President Waheed appointed Peace Ambassador by CWPF

Former Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has been appointed Ambassador of Peace by China World Peace Foundation.

Dr. Waheed was given the honor during the CWPF Peace Festival held in Beijing, China last Wednesday, September 21 – of which he was the chief guest.

Waheed served as Maldivian President from February 7, 2012 to November 17, 2013 – a period of great political turmoil after the sudden resignation of former Maldivian President Mohamed

Nasheed – which saw regular protests and riots throughout the country.

CWPF said that they appointed Dr. Waheed an Ambassador of Peace to honor is work to bring peace and unity to Maldives during the turbulent period.

CWPF is an international organization backed by the Chinese government and China Development Bank – with the aim of strengthening ties with other governments, organizations and individuals.
