Launch travelling with tourists crash on reef

A speed launch transferring tourists to Anantara Resort has crashed onto a reef near Malé atoll Gulhi.

MNDF said that the launched named “Redhan” crashed onto the reef with eight tourists and so far there have been no reports of any injuries.

Following the incident, Anantara Resort sent a second speedboat to complete the transfer.

The report of the incident came in around 7:50 p.m. tonight by the Malé Area Coast Guard Squadron according to the MNDF and was mobilized immediately at the area of the incident.

While MNDF divers are working to take the launch off the reef, three boats from Anantara are assisting in the area.
