Former Chairperson of MDP and current MP for Hulhu-Henveiru constituency, Riko Moosa Manik has said that the opposition coalition has a failed leadership and does not have strength to overthrow the PPM government.
Talking on Sun TV’s 50 Minutes program tonight, Moosa said that the members on the leadership of opposition coalition and the MDP leadership are failed members and toppling a government formed under the constitution is not something they can do.
Highlighting the work done by the MDP leadership in the early days of the party, Moosa said that the current opposition political parties cannot do the level of work MDP did back then.
MP Moosa said that while the opposition has passed the 100-day mark, they cannot bring 2000 people on to the streets.
He said that no opportunity would be given in the future to overthrow a constitutionally elected government.
Also the Vice President of the Parliament, Moosa said that he does not believe MDP is fulfilling it’s obligations as an opposition party and the opposition coalition does not carry any weight either.
Moosa said that MDP has nothing to gain by following a coalition formed with the names of a group of people who are in exile and in prison.
He said that members should not be nominated to constituencies with MDP members through the opposition coalition for the upcoming Local Council Election and doing so is a great loss to the party. And he said that members of MDP must be given that opportunity.
